What is Private Residential Archeology??
First and foremost I want to assure you that is has nothing to do with the crap that you see being portrayed on the TV shows about "Digging in America" That stuff is unethical Hollywood fantasy that is meant solely for entertainment.
We strive to preserve history through the ETHICAL archeological recovery of artifacts. We do this by assisting private property owners in discovering the history of their property in a way that places the discoveries into historical context. We do our digging in the library, we do our excavations on your property. This is not about bottle digging in an old outhouse, this is about truly preserving and understanding the past. The necklaces are great. I especially like the one with the key. I
looked at it and wondered what type of key it might be. I have an old
secretary desk that was my grandmother's that has a lock on it, but I
never had a key. I tried the one on the necklace - and it worked :)
Imagine that!
I am a history teacher, so the fact that your items come from archeological digs fascinates me. I looked at several other pieces of jewelry made from old pieces of china when I was in Virginia a few weeks ago, but none had the history behind them that your pieces do.
